A
Michigan Favorite
Star Theatres was founded by Barrie Lawson Loeks and Jim Loeks. The Michigan-based
theatre circuit is the market leader in metropolitan Detroit and is one of the
premier theatre circuits in the industry. Star Theatres owns and operates 10
theatres with 156 screens and includes the Star Southfield Entertainment Centre,
a 20 screen, 6,000 seat megaplex which consistently ranks as one of the most
highly attended theatres in the United States. All of the Star Theatres newest
locations feature state-of-the-art auditoriums with plush stadium seating and
themed designs created by internationally renowned entertainment architect David
Rockwell.
Star Theatres newest location, the 21 screen Star Fairlane Town
Center in Dearborn, Michigan, introduced Nacho Loco, a build-your-own
nacho bar and features the popular self-serve sundae bar. In addition,
every Star Theatre showcases signature Star features including
multiple indoor box offices, open manager’s kiosks in the
lobbies, and concession stands that serve hot menu items, as well
as the traditional popcorn and soda. In March 2002, Loews Cineplex
Entertainment acquired Barrie and Jim Loeks 50% stake in the partnership.
